Luis Suarez takes the same magic potion as last season to find his form
The Uruguayan did not go on international duty and soon perked up
Luis Suarez is not going through a great run of form but if there’s a player in the Barcelona squad who is a specialist in turning around these runs of form it’s the Uruguayan. Last season he went through a worse situation than he’s going through now, back then he had a problem with his right knee.
He actually had the same amount of goals by this stage of the season last year, three, and three assists, although he played less games last year. Five of the first eight in La Liga, thanks to his bad knee.
And just like now, then Suarez did not go to join Uruguay in the October 2017 international break. Suarez worked intensely in the Catalan capital, strengthening and doing sand work. He also didn’t go to join his national team in November. It helped his performance at Barcelona hugely.
Suarez went through eight weeks of the season scoring at least one goal in every game, between December 2 and January 28. He ended up with a total of 31 in 51 matches across all competitions.
