The Uruguayan starts slowly but builds up steam before the goals arrive

Luis Suarez has always gone from less to more at Barcelona and he still has the absolute confidence of his team-mates and the technical team.

Suarez has played 200 games at Barcelona, 150 won, 26 drawn and 24 lost, with 152 goals, 77 assists and over 17,000 minutes played since making his debut on October 25, 2014 against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Suarez, who enters his fifth season with the club, has a contract until 2021 like Leo Messi and a 200m euro release clause. He is 31.

Barca’s No 9 usually starts slow and as Ernesto Valverde said, “sometimes it’s hard for him to start but he’s in good shape.”

SEASON BY SEASON

In 2014-15 he started late because of the FIFA ban and a month after his debut scored his first goal, November 25, against Apoel in a 4-0 Champions League win in Cyprus. He scored 25 goals that season.

In the second campaign, 2014-15, he scored in the Spanish Super Cup and carried on going, scoring 59 goals.

Suarez scored in the third game of the 2017-18 season but it wasn’t until December he scored in more than one game in a month.

And in his fourth he had another diesel start. Just two goals in the first eight games.
