Luis Figo renounces his Barça past and declares himself a Madridsta

The former Portuguese international played for both clubs but is now only connected to one of them

Former Real Madrid and Barcelona player Luis Figo has definitively renounced his Barcelona past. If he’d not done so clearly before, in an interview with Cadena COPE on Thursday he declared himself 100 per cent Real Madrid, 

“I think it’s normal, when you arrive at a club you can’t say you’ve been that club for all of your lie. If you ask me the first day ‘Are you Madrid’, well I would say yes because I’d just signed. But now I can say that I am Madrid, I go to the stadium, too,” he said. 

“If I have to go to Barcelona for something, I will. I have no problem,” admitted the former Portuguese international. “There are people who I considered friends that ceased to be after I signed [for Real]. It didn't look good to be a friend of Luis Figo.”

Luis Figo explained that “my youngest daughter is a Madrid fan, I think the older two are Barça fans.”

Despite that, Luis Figo said he wouldn’t get involved with Los Blancos on an ambassadorial level: “I’m a socio and for me that’s enough. If it came up, let’s see what happens, but as it hasn’t…”
