Luis Enrique's surprising message to Barcelona youngster Gavi
The coach said the teen needs to improve on and off the pitch
Luis Enrique sent Barcelona midfielder Gavi a message during his Nations League press conference ahead of the clash with the Czech Republic.
“Gavi has to improve on and off the pitch,” said Lucho, despite the teen’s fine performances so far for his country at 17 years of age.
The Barcelona midfielder debuted for his country last October and has had nine appearances so far, scoring one goal. He is also key for Barcelona and Xavi Hernandez.
Luis Enrique said that you can’t compare Gavi to Busquets. “Any player would end up losing in a comparison with Busquets, and more so a young player like Gavi.”
One of the big issues around Barcelona at the moment is Gavi’s contract, which expires in a year. The club and his agent De la Pena are negotiating over a new deal.
