Luis Enrique on the introduction of video technology into football

The Barça manager is not in favour of all technology in the game but is a fan of goal-line technology

Barcelona manager Luis Enrique spoke about the use of video technology in football, specificly in terms of it being in the Copa del Rey from next season.

Luis Enrique said he's in favour of some technology, but not of all technology as it can remove part of the spectacle due to hold ups in play.

"We have to see what the difference is between VAR -- which I’m not in favour of -- and things like goal-line technology," he said.

"I’m a fan of everything that can help in key moments, such as ghost goals and decisive plays… They are things which can help and we wouldn’t lose more than a few seconds.

"As for anything else, such as VAR, we would have to see what type of plays [it’s used for],  but I am not a fan of it.

"But for technology which can determine key moments, that’s great for referees."

The debate into technology has been re-opened after Barcelona scored a 'ghost goal' against Real Betis at the weekend -- the ball crossed the line but wasn't given as a goal.

Goal-line technology is used in all of Europe's major leagues with the exception of Spain.
