Barcelona could face tricky teams in UEFA Champions League last 16 draw

One thing they don’t have to worry about is facing Real Madrid or Sevilla—in the last 16 you can’t face teams from your league

To be a champion, you have to beat the best. And facing a big side is a very probable situation for Barcelona as they look at the Champions League group situation.

Along with Atletico Madrid, Monaco and Leicester City, the Blaugrana have done their homework and qualified for the next round, although this year winning the group could actually be a handicap.

The one thing that is true is that whatever the draw dictates on December 12 in Nyon, what nobody can take away from Lucho’s men is that they will play the second leg at Camp Nou. However statistics show that doesn’t mean much in recent years.

For now, the possible teams Barcelona could face in the next round speak German. Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen. And potentially a third, in Borussia Dortmund.

If Real Madrid beat them in the final match, Marc Bartra and Co would be an option for Barcelona.

Then if Arsenal better what PSG do in the final game, Unai Emery’s men will be another option. Juventus could also come second if they don’t beat Dinamo Zagreb and Sevilla beat Lyon.

Easier would be Benfica, Napoli, Besiktas, Porto, Copenhagen and Lyon. The first three are separated by only a point in Group B.

In Group G second place will be Porto unless Copenhagen beat Bruges and the Portuguese side don’t see off Leicester.

One thing they don’t have to worry about is facing Real Madrid or Sevilla—in the last 16 you can’t face teams from your league. If they both finish second then Barcelona could only face five teams. Bayern, Bayer, and the second place sides in A, B and G.
