Liverpool willing to pay Gavi's release clause

The Barcelona midfielder needs to sign a new contract which is being negotiated over

Barcelona are under threat from Liverpool when it comes to keeping midfield terrier Gavi. The 17 year old has a 50m euro release clause in his current contract and they are ready to activate it.

Barcelona have one thing firmly in their favour, that Gavi wants to stay at Barcelona. His agent Ivan de la Pena and Barcelona have been at odds in recent days over the stat of his renewal but an agreement is expected to be met.

Liverpool would pay 50m for Gavi, which is a lot for a player of his age but for a big European side it’s more than possible.

The Reds would give him a much higher salary than he could earn at Barca, given their economic state.

But Gavi does not want to leave for money only. The player is happy at Barca, he lives at La Masia in an environment where he’s comfortable. Leaving for England is not on his wishlist.
