Lionel Messi's injury recovery plan over the coming days

Once the injury is improving and less inflamed he will start physiotherapy with club staff, with group training the next objective

Lionel Messi’s comeback trail starts now. The first days of an injury are most boring for the player because the order of the day is absolute rest. Evidently this is accompanied by preventative measures like anti-inflammatories to lower inflammation.

Messi has a few days left before he can start the physiotherapy which Roger Girones will perform. Thus far it is not imagined that his Argentine physiotherapist, Marcelo D’Andrea, will come but it can’t be ruled out when the player starts his process of adapting to being back on the pitch.

When the physiotherapy stage finishes, which will be 10 days approximately, he can start to be incorporated into group training sessions.

That should last between four and six days, roughly adding up to the three weeks estimated for him to be out. His plan is to be 100 per cent fit by the time Barcelona face Manchester City.
