The Argentine has won nine of his 18 games at the Bernabeu

In those games he's scored 14 goals, including the winner last time

Lionel Messi has played 18 games for Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabeu. Every single one possible since his first appearance there, the famous 0-3 in 2005-06 with a Ronaldinho brace. The Argentine's record is nine wins, three draws and six losses.

Messi introduced himself to the Bernabeu on Nov. 19, 2005. It was also his first ever Clasico. Frank Rijkaard's team gave a footballing lesson led by the wonderful Ronaldinho, who scored two of the goals and earned applause from the home fans, who recognised Barça's superiority.

After that game, Messi said that "when they told me I was starting I got my head on the game. I went out to enjoy myself and to try to do things well. I didn't get a goal, but the important thing was the team's great victory."

A 2-6 WITH A TITLE TASTE

Another memorable game came in the 2008-09 season, the first in Madrid under Pep Guardiola. Barça, now with Messi as the team's leader, went to the Bernabeu to win La Liga on May 2, 2009. And they managed it. They won 2-6 with a brace from Messi. The victory, as president Joan Laporta said at the time, had "the status of a title." A few days later, that title was confirmed.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE DOUBLE

If in the big La Liga games he showed off his ability, Messi did the same in the Champions League. Barça qualified for the Wembley final in 2011 with a 0-2 win at the Bernabeu, with both goals from Messi. The first goal was one of his best.

THE HAT-TRICK

Talking of Messi Bernabeu moments, you can't forget the hat-trick that he scored there on March 23, 2014 in a league game. Barça won 3-4 and the Argentine scored three, with a goal in the first half and two after the break (both penalties).

LEGENDARY CelebraTION

Just as special was his performance the last time he played at the Bernabeu on April 23, 2017. Barça, trying to get back into the title race, won 2-3, with two goals from the crack. Messi sealed the win in the 92nd minute with a sweet left-footed effort. It took them level with Madrid in the table, although Zinedine Zidane's side had a game in hand and won out. There was no miracle.

However, the goal will remain in history because of the legendary celebration from Messi, holding his shirt up in front of the home fans as if to say "Yes, I am Messi, and I just scored the winning goal in the last minute."

A 14 POINT ADVANTAGE?

This Saturday, in Messi's 19th game at the Bernabeu, he can star in another big moment and take Barcelona 14 points clear of Madrid in the table.
