The Argentine international took part in the first half of the session

Lionel Messi has had some complicated days with his national team. Pain in the adductor and a humiliating defeat by Spain have upset the player, who returned to be looked at by Barcelona's medical team on Thursday, ahead of Saturday's clash with Sevilla.

He was subsequently given the all clear to take part in the first half of the morning's session, as was goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who hurt his knee while with Germany.

Messi saw Argentina lose two friendlies and if he starts against Sevilla, having missed both games because of injury, there will be noise in his country.

Letting in six against Spain has sparked up discontent in Argentina. Messi returned in a private jet from Madrid to Barcelona with Andres Iniesta, Gerard Pique, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets on Tuesday night.

They landed around 2am and they all trained on Thursday, bar Busquets, who continues his recovery from injury, while Messi will be inspected by Barca's medics.

Valverde did have Nelson Semedo and Denis Suarez back from injury.
