Lionel Messi more involved in Barca play vs PSV

A report on La TdT on Catalunya Radio revealed Messi's increased involvement

Lionel Messi is taking the 2018-19 Champions League campaign especially seriously and winning it is his big objective for the season. That's what he told the Camp Nou at the start of the season, and he backed it up with a hat-trick in a 4-0 win over PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday.

The Rosario-born star scored his 48th career hat-trick but also showed greater involvement in the build-up play than normal. That was revealed by data on Catalunya Radio. They say he had the ball 94 times, a high number for even Leo, who is usually omnipresent.

On average this season Messi has had 79.2 actions with the ball per game. Historically Messi is more involved in the UCL. In La Ligah e has an average of 59.8 per game, while in the UCL an average of 65.4.
