Lionel Messi left on the bench for Barça's Liga game against Villarreal
The Argentine rests with Atletico and Man Utd in mind
Ernesto Valverde hid his cards until the end but finally it was revealed that Lionel Messi will rest with a tough run of games on the horizon.
The Argentine's not been on the bench for a league game since Jan. 30 against Leganes at Camp Nou. On that occasion, he came on in the second half of a 3-1 win.
Messi is a substitute once again for Tuesday's game against Villarreal, with Atletico Madrid to come on Saturday and Manchester United next week.
Malcom, who impressed off the bench against Espanyol on Saturday, comes into the side.
Valverde has also handed rests to Ivan Rakitic and Gerard Pique -- both one booking away from a ban.
