The Argentine wants to forget about Rome and Anfield for now

Lionel Messi spoke at an Adidas event on Wednesday, saying Barcelona must forget about Rome and Anfield to "start from zero" in the Champions League.

"Sincerely, the Champions League is always there," said Messi. "But we have to start from zero, it's a new year, a new competition and what we have to do is learn from the past, our errors, and focus on the present."

On the Clasico, Messi said: "I expect a really tough Real Madrid, very consistent, how they have been lately. Barcelona v Madrid is always a different game, a special game in which it doesn't matter what form you're in. We're both in a very good moment."

On his sixth Ballon d'Or, Messi added: "They are special and different, each one has something special and this one is for the moment I find myself in on a personal and footballing level."

LA LIGA MORE EQUAL

Messi added that he thought La Liga was tighter and tighter. "We note it, we know that each year it's more equal. It's hard to play on the road because the hosts are very strong, this makes it more even and complicated than ever, it's all more even."
