The punishment could increase with more absences from training

Lionel Messi did not attend training on Monday and he could be punished by Barcelona. The Catalans have the right to “suspend his employment and payment from between two to 10 days”, establishing a fine of up to 7 per cent of his monthly salary.

Salaries over 100,000 euros a month have the following potential penalties.

Minimum: 1.33 per cent of the salary.

Medium: 1.34 to 2.66 %

Max: 2.65% to 4 %.

If he also does not attend on Tuesday, it would count as a very serious offence, and the fines can increase as such.

The salary can be suspended from 11-30 days.

For salaries over 100,000 euros a month, the fine can be:

Minimum: 3.33 per cent

Medium: 3.34 to 6.66 %

Max: 6.67 to 10 %.
