Lewandowski's comments oblige Barça to go all out for the striker

The Bayern Munich forward has made his desire to move to Camp Nou more than clear

The news coming out of the Poland national team camp, from a question from SPORT to Robert Lewandowski, has had major repercussions in Munich.

Bayern Munich were caught by surprise to hear their star striker say "my time with the club has come to an end." Barcelona were also not expecting such a strong response even though they knew he was playing his part to force a transfer. The message was clear this time: his words oblige them to go all out to get the deal over the line.

The operation

When Joan Laporta and Pini Zahavi, the player's agent, began to speak about the possibility of Lewandowski moving to Camp Nou, they knew this moment would arrive. Now Barça must make their move.

It's obvious that the first step was activating the financial operations they have on the table -- the sale of a stake in Barça Licensing and Merchandising and the club's television rights -- to be able to make Bayern an offer.

For now, Bayern continue to close the door publicly on Lewandowski's desire to leave, but they are looking for a replacement at the same time. They are after Liverpool's Sadio Mane, they tried to sign Haaland, and now Stuttgart's Sasa Kalajdzic is a target

While they find a substitute, which is not in Barça's hands, Lewandowski himself is forcing the issue. Barça are ready to pay between €30m and €40m for the striker.

Barça don't want a war with Bayern and, for that reason, they are ready to negotiate a deal that is hopefully satisfactory for all parties involved. The player has said it himself: "When the Nations League ends, I hope to be able to give more news."
