A lever to reactivate the contract renewal of Ousmane Dembele
The French winger can leave for any club he likes at the end of the month for free
When it seemed the Ousmane Dembele soap opera was almost over, with the French forward set to leave the club, the player appeared in a video taken by a fan in which he says he’s happy at the club and will stay.
In principle, the situation has not changed. He has not responded to Barcelona’s last offer and his contract runs out at the end of June.
Chelsea are in pole position for him. However, after Barcelona pulled their levers to gain more financial power this week, it could give them a last chance to keep Ousmane.
The club could raise their offer now they have more finances available, while coach Xavi Hernandez still has faith in Dembele, who played very well for him. At 25 years old his best years are ahead of him and he had less injury problems than normal last season.
