He is expected to make his debut off the bench on Friday

Hours before catching his flight to Paris, Leo Messi was overcome with nerves. Such a move was something new for him, having only moved from Newell's to Barcelona when he was a young boy.

Knowing how tough it could be to leave your friends behind, he always wanted to avoid putting his children through something similar. However, the decision made by Joan Laporta and FC Barcelona left him with no other option but to find a new club.

Having overcome his initial nerves and been warmly welcomed by the PSG dressing room, Messi is now much more relaxed about the situation. Key to this was finding some familiar faces in the dressing room who have helped him to quickly find his feet in his new club. In fact, Messi is understood to have told people close to him that he hasn't worked in such a positive environment for years.

Players such as Neymar, Ángel Di Maria and Leandro Paredes have helped Messi to settle in during his first week in the French capital. Another thing that has helped him is the fact that many of the players - as well as head coach Mauricio Pochettino and his coaching staff - speak Spanish.

Videos posted on PSG's official channels have shown that Leo is already developing a good connection with some of the squad's most influential players. Now, Leo's main concern is to find a new house for his family and a school for his kids to attend in September.

Pochettino está encantado con lo que está viendo de Messi en estas primeras sesiones y se espera que debute este viernes antes el Stade Brestois. La idea del técnico argentino es que entre en la recta final del partido, como parte de esta pretemporada exprés preparada para él.

Ex-Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is delighted with what he has seen from Messi in his first few training sessions. The Argentinian manager is expected to give Leo his debut off the bench in this Friday's fixture against Stade Brestois before selecting him in the starting line up for the game against Reims on Sunday 29 August.

Until then, fans will have to make do with a series of tantalising training videos posted by PSG's social media team. Messi's debut in a PSG shirt is not far away.
