Leo Messi starts recovery work with Athletic Club in his sights
The Argentine is not in the U.S but still hopes to play Liga opener
Lionel Andrés Messi has not started the season as he would have liked. A calf injury in his first session back prevented him travelling to the United States.
It's a setback which has forced him to remain in Barcelona and focus on getting fit for the La Liga opener against Athletic Club at San Mames next weekend.
While his teammates are in the States for two games against Napoli, he was back at the training ground on Wednesday to begin his recovery work.
The Argentine worked with the club's physios but the club have not yet revealed how long they expect him to be out for.
Messi played with an injury at times last season and the Spanish champions don't want to push his return to action and take unnecessary risks.
Leo Messi ya ha empezado en Barcelona su proceso de recuperación.
