Leo Messi hasn't returned to Barcelona, has permission to miss Eibar

The Argentina forward has been given an extended Christmas break by Koeman

Leo Messi has not returned to Barcelona. The Barça captain is still in Rosario enjoying the Christmas period with his family. He has permission from Ronald Koeman and the club to have an extended break.

Messi will not return to Catalonia until the New Year, with his next game for the club set to be Sunday's game against Huesca (Jan. 3).

Barcelona returned to training on Sunday after four days off to prepare for Tuesday's game against Eibar in La Liga.

With the exception of Messi, coach Koeman had all of his players back in at the Ciutat Esportiva to prepare for the return of league action.

On Monday, Koeman will give a press conference ahead of the Eibar match as Barça look to extend their four-game unbeaten run in La Liga and build on the impressive 3-0 win at Real Valladolid last time out.
