The Argentine forward is heading to PSG most likely and it will hurt

Lionel Messi’s departure could cost Barcelona 137 million in market value according to Brand Finance, which would be an 11% per cent decline from their current valuation of 1.266bn euros.

They would come from Barcelona’s commercial income, estimated to be reduced by 77m euros, plus shirt sales and other market products which make up 43m. A further 17m is expected to be lost from matchday income and results.

Per the report Brand Finance Football 50 2021, Barcelona are the second most valuable club in the world, beaten only by Real Madrid at 1.276bn.

“Messi’s presence at Barca has without doubt allowed the club to bring in fans, season ticket holders, better players, commercial deals and trophies,” said Teresa de Lemus, the director general of Brand Finance Spain. “His departure could cost the club and create a painful reduction in market value.”
