The centre back has signed his contract with Barcelona and explains why he decided to join the club

Clement Lenglet has signed his five-year contract with Barcelona. The French footballer, who had earlier passed his medical, rubber-stamped his agreement with Barça alongside the club's president, Josep Maria Bartomeu. The defender explained how proud he felt to be joining a team as important as Barcelona. "This is a dream for me. I've joined a team full of stars. I'm so grateful to be here. It's a dream I've had since I was a child."

Barça's president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, was also full of praise for his new signing. "Lenglet is a player we've been following for a long time now. It was important to us that he already knows the league well. Aside from his quality, it's a fact that having experience of the Spanish league is important. With players like him, Barcelona should be fighting for every title available. For him, and his family, the city of Barcelona will always be important and I'm sure he'll feel at home here."

The player will train with his teammates today under the orders of first team coach Ernesto Valverde. He's expected to get plenty of minutes in the upcoming North American tour.
