Lenglet celebrates Barça goal with tribute to injured Moussa Wague

The French defender held a shirt up with the Senegal international's name on the back

Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet dedicated his goal against Real Valladolid on Tuesday to injured teammate Moussa Wague.

Wague, 22, has been ruled out for nine months after undergoing an operation on Saturday to repair and reconstruct patellar ligament in his right knee.

The Senegal international injured his knee while on loan at Greek club PAOK Salonika, where he was due to spend the whole season.

Lenglet headed in the opening goal against Valladolid, getting on the end of Lionel Messi's free-kick, before grabbing a Barça shirt carrying Wague's name.

The French centre-back held up the shirt in tribute to his teammate, who will hope to return to action in 2021, although initial reports in Greece suggested his top-level career could be over due to the injury.

Barça reported over the weekend: "FC Barcelona player Moussa Wague, on loan this season to PAOK Salonika, has successfully undergone an operation this Saturday morning to repair and reconstruct patellar ligament in his right knee.

"The operation was performed by Dr Ramon Cugat under supervision of the FC Barcelona medical team. The Senegalese footballer has also ruptured posterior cruciate ligaments and has undergone conservative treatment. He will be out of action for an estimated nine months, and will remain in Barcelona for the recovery period."
