The French defender will return to the Premier League after spending last season with Tottenham

On Wednesday, Clément Lenglet left Barcelona's Ciutat Esportiva after 14:00, a place he will not return to, unless there is a surprise, until at least next summer.

Barça and Aston Villa have already agreed the loan without option to buy the French centre-back until 30 June 2024. The deal could become official Thursday and the player will fly to Birmingham in the next few hours.

After a summer-long drama, the Blaugrana have finally managed to get rid of the defender's demanding salary.

Aston Villa will cover the majority of the player's wages, who was not in Xavi's plans and who will join Unai Emery's side.

According to 'SPORT', the English club will pay approximately 75% of Lenglet's wages, with Barça paying the remainder.

The player's agent was at the Ciutat Esportiva on Wednesday to finalise the last-minute deal ahead of Friday's transfer deadline.
