Lautaro Martinez moves closer to Barca after putting Inter talks on hold

The Argentine forward has long been a target for Barca

| sport

Lautaro Martinez has stopped negotiations over staying at Inter Milan, his agent Alejandro Camano told Sport a few days ago.

He has a contract until 2023 with the Italian team, who want to extend that deal by another year. That’s where Barca might come in, a club who have pined for Martinez for quite some time.

Emerson, whom Barca have just signed (effectively) from Real Betis, is of interest to Inter and Barca wouldn’t mind including him in an operation for Martinez.

Inter, meanwhile, might need a right back if PSG or Chelsea sign Achraf Hakimi. He may go for between 60-80 million Euros.

It would be a tricky deal, with other parties involved beyond Inter and Barca.

If Emerson wants to go, Barca would not stop him. This summer may be filled with similar deals given the economic state of the market.
