Laporta urges Barça to call elections and says he will stand again
The ex-president of the club wants to return to the top job at Camp Nou
After the blow Barcelona received on Wednesday at Anfield, many personalities in football have criticised the running of the club.
Someone who has not missed the chance to jump on board with that is former Barça president Joan Laporta. After tweeting his criticism of the board, he has called for elections this summer and pledged to run once again.
"Did the board now want to call elections this summer? Well, do it then," he posted on social media. "I am ready to stand forward again.
"And anyone who wants to recover the club's model to bring the glory back and make football, if you want, you can vote for me."
Laporta was president between 2003 annd 2010, when the club signed players such as Ronaldinho and Thierry Henry and took a chance on Pep Guardiola as first team coach.
