The Barcelona president sent two people to speak with the Brazilian this year

Neymar said several times after leaving Barcelona that he wanted to play with Lionel Messi again and his wish finally came true this summer when Messi signed for Paris Saint-Germain.

Barça had tried to re-sign Neymar several times since 2017 and president Joan Laporta tried again this summer. Per RAC1, Laporta wanted to sign Neymar when he was re-elected.

He sent two people to Paris to speak with the Brazilian and, according to the report, Neymar confessed he was “desperate” to return to Camp Nou and play with Messi.

But everything broke down when one of the PSG hierarchy, learning of Barça’s interest, deposited around 20 million euros in the player’s father’s account.

The money supposedly didn’t come from the club’s official accounts.

And in the end, PSG convinced Neymar to renew and then managed to sign Messi from Barca on a free transfer, in addition to Sergio Ramos, Georgino Wijnaldum, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Achraf Hakimi.
