The Barça president opened up in an interview with La Vanguardia

Joan Laporta did not shy away from talking about the state of his health in an interview granted to 'La Vanguardia', following the latest stories published in which the concern of those closest to him about his overweight was noted.

"I know stories have come out, but I'm in good health," he said. "It's true that I used to do more sport and now I don't have much time to dedicate to it, but I'm fine, which is the important thing. All the indicators are good."

Asked if he should take more care of himself, the FC Barcelona president acknowledged that "I have some constants that guide me and I think I'm fine. They are maintained, they work and I am in good health.

"I do accept that I have to lose weight, I'm working on it now that summer is coming and it's easier because it motivates you a little more. I still have plenty of years in me."

In this sense, he has taken the step and started a diet that consists of "eating breakfast like a king and dinner like a beggar," he commented with a laugh in the aforementioned interview, explaining that he started it on his saint's day: Saint John's Day.

Laporta hopes that the first results "will be seen before the [United States] tour," but excuses himself in that "before, when you were younger, in a couple of weeks you could get in shape, but now, as you get older, it takes longer and longer."
