The Barça president spoke about comments made by Leo Messi's brother this week

Barcelona president Joan Laporta played down the importance of comments made by Lionel Messi's brother this week.

Matias Messi said that Leo would not return to the club while Laporta was there and that the Argentina forward is bigger than the Catalan club.

He has since apologised for his remarks, made on his son's Twitch, and Laporta was happy to draw a line under the issue.

"Leo is Barça heritage, that is clear," Laporta said. "We are very proud to have had him here. He's the best ever. But don't make me speak about Leo beyond that, plays for PSG, and I don't talk about players at other clubs.

"As for his brother, he apologised and that's that. I don't give it any more importance (...) it has nothing to do with the relationship between club and Leo, it does not impact it."

Matias had said before saying sorry: "I have a clipping pasted from SPORT, from Barcelona, that says 'Messi should return to Barcelona' and I put 'hahahaha we are not going to return to Barcelona' and if we return, we are going to do a good cleaning, among others kick out Joan Laporta, an ungrateful person.

"The FC Barcelona museum is Messi's museum. The Spaniards are traitors."
