The Dutch coach won't be the Barcelona boss after the international break

There's no going back. Joan Laporta, you would imagine with the backing and blessing of his board of directors and advisors, has decided that Ronald Koeman will not remain as Barcelona coach after Saturday's Atletico Madrid game.

The 3-0 loss to Benfica and, above all, the team picked by the Dutch coach was the straw that broke the camel's back. Laporta has run out of patience.

Laporta was furious in the lead up to the game when he became aware that Barça were going to play with a back three against Benfica, with the youngsters who had done so well against Levante relegated to the bench.

As soon as the Champions League game ended at the Stadium of Light, Laporta expressed how fed up he was, saying "we've come far enough.'

No going back

The president feels there is no going back, but he doesn't think it benefits anyone to sack Koeman before travelling to face Atletico this weekend, after which Barça have a two week break due to international fixtures.

It will be during these two weeks when FC Barcelona will take the difficlt decision of presenting a new coach, who will be in charge of leading Joan Laporta's project.

That's to say, it will be a strategic appointement because Laporta does not want a short-term solution for this season because there is still a long way to go. It will be a bet on the present and the future, someone who can excite Barcelona fans during a difficult moment.
