La Liga open investigation into Barcelona players' lunch at Messi's house
La Liga will try to obtain information from the people that were present at the event
The Liga de Fútbol Profesional (LFP) has decided to open an investigation into the lunch attended by Barcelona's players at Lionel Messi's house, as they did regarding situations relating to Sevilla and Sporting Gijon in the past.
La Liga will try to obtain information on and from the people that were present at the event and if they breached the league's coronavirus protocols. Only in the case that breaches are found will the investigation be taken to the next stage.
According to the protocol, when it's considered there could be negligence on the part of a player or a club, the invesitgation will be handed over to the social discipline judge to determine further action.
In this case, and always in the scenario of the investigation being moved to the next phase, the league would have to inform the CSD so that it could adopt the measures it deems appropriate according to its powers.
At the moment, we are in an informative phase and gathering information to determine if they could have endangered the player bubbles and caused an outbreak of COVID-19.
