The report claims the Croatian wants a move to the San Siro at the end of the season

While Ivan Rakitic's agent says it's "impossible" that the Croatian midfielder will leave Spain to play in another country this year, La Gazzetta dello Sport have claimed the Barcelona man could join Inter Milan next season.

According to the Italian outlet, Rakitic has grown annoyed with Barça due to the signing of Frenkie de Jong for the summer and the possible arrival of Adrien Rabiot, which makes competition for places in midfield tougher.

Inter would be ready to pay up to 90 million euros for the World Cup runner-up, a 30 million reduction on Rakitic's 120 million release clause.

In addition, the Serie A side would offer Rakitic a salary worth around five million euros per season, which is similar to what he currently pockets at Camp Nou.

Despite the reports in Italy claiming Rakitic has asked Barça president Josep Maria Bartomeu to let him leave this summer, the player has expressed his desire to sign a new contract in recent weeks.

Rakitic, whose current terms run until 2021, is one of Ernesto Valverde's most used players but Bartomeu's said the club's finances don't allow for a new deal as things stand.

His future has become one of the hot topics in recent weeks since the signing of De Jong as Barça look for ways to bring money in this summer.
