Kuipers named as referee for Barcelona's game against Liverpool
The Dutch referee is known as one of the best in the world
UEFA have confirmed that Dutch referee Kuipers will be in the middle for Wednesday's Champions League semifinal between Barcelona and Liverpool at Camp Nou.
Kuipers is one of the best referees in Europe and took charge of Juventus' win over Atletico Madrid in the round of 16.
Barça have never tasted defeat when Kuipers has overseen their matches, although he was in charge for the goalless draw against Juventus in 2017 which knocked them out.
His first Blaugrana game saw a 2-0 win against Dinamo Kiev in 2009-10. In the same season he oversaw Barça's 1-1 draw with Stuttgart.
Kuipers has also refereed the Europa League final in the past and Spain's loss to Russia at the World Cup last summer.
