"De Jong knows he lost too many balls, he lost balls he wouldn't normally lose"

No one will be spared by Ronald Koeman, not even Frenkie de Jong, who many felt would the golden child of the Dutch coach's Barcelona side.

The two linked up together when Koeman was Netherlands coach and he promised the former Ajax midfielder an important role under him at Camp Nou.

However, despite that, Koeman is still prepared to criticise De Jong when he doesn't perform to expectations, as was the case in Sunday's 1-1 draw against Sevilla.

"De Jong knows he lost too many balls," Koeman said. "He lost balls he wouldn't normally lose. I wouldn't say he's not at his best because he was very good against Villarreal and Celta Vigo. But today, like others, he wasn't efficient with the ball."

Koeman was also critical of striker Antoine Griezmann, who missed two chances. He said the Frenchman "should have scored one of them."
