Koeman's birthday advice for Ansu: He can improve his concentration levels
The teeneager turns 18 on Saturday and Koeman was asked what advice he would gift him
Ronald Koeman revealed in Friday's press conference ahead of the game against Alaves that he had a chat with Ansu Fati on Thursday about where he can improve.
Ansu turns 18 on Saturday, when Barça travel to Alaves, and Koeman was asked what advice he would give him for his birthday.
"Above all to keep working hard and to keep improving," Koeman said, "I was with him yesterday talking about concentration. In that sense, he has to improve. Sometimes he loses the ball because of concentration, not because of talent.
"In that sense, he can improve and he has our help every day. He is a huge talent, a really good player, and we have to take care of him and help him improve things. One of those things is concentration. He has to be prepared and focused every day to improve."
Koeman said that Ansu can learn from a variety of players in that sense, including Pedri, who is one month his junior but shone in the midweek win over Juventus.
"Pedri is very concentrated," the Dutch coach said. "But it's normal that these players at the age of 17 have ups and downs, that's why we're here to help them."
Ansu was on the bench against Juventus but could come back into the side against Alaves. He is the top scorer in La Liga with four goals, along with Luis Suárez (Atlético), Oyarzabal (Real Sociedad), Paco Alcácer (Villarreal) and Portu (Real Sociedad).
