Here are the new Barcelona coach's first words after taking over on two-year deal

New Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman says there is plenty of work to be done to recover from the disastrous 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich on Friday.

Koeman, who signed a two year deal and was presented on Wednesday, said a club of Barça's stature cannot have results like the one which saw them knocked out of the Champions League.

Speaking for the first time in his new role, he began: "This is day to be happy, proud. Everyone knows what Barca is to me, it's my home ... and to have a chance to train such a great team is a challenge.

"It's not an easy one. Even during the good moments, it's not easy to be at Barcelona because the club demands the very best. But I like that, it's how it has to be.

"I've signed and I am the Barcelona coach and now we're going to work, train the team hard. I think there have to be changes. The image of the other day is not the image we want -- not me, president, board, club members, anyone.

"We are gonna work to recover the prestige of a club that is still the greatest club in the world. And as I have said, it's a dream. Now to work on where Barcelona have to be: at the very top.

"We will fight for that and give all we have, that's our job -- together with players that still have a lot of quality."
