Koeman wants Pedri and Trincao as part of Barça's first team squad
Barça's new coach agrees with the plan to keep hold of the pair and give them vital playing time
Ronald Koeman is the chosen one to usher in this era of change at FC Barcelona. The general consensus is that a major overhaul of the first team squad is needed after a season to forget. Koeman is someone who believes in giving the kids a chance, as proven by an interview he gave to 'La TDT'.
One of Koeman's first decisions was to agree that Pedri and Trincao would form part of the first-team squad. The two youngsters are seen as key members of the future but they also have a role to play in the present. The 8-2 defeat to Bayern has speeded up the 'changing of the guard' process at the Camp Nou.
The Dutch coach has a lot of questions he needs to answer over the coming weeks. Koeman must decide what role, if any, the long-term dressing room leaders will have (Jordi Alba, Busquets, Pique, Luis Suárez, etc.). However, the decision to back Pedri and Trincao has already been made.
Over the next few days, Koeman will get to meet the youngsters who are undergoing preseason training at the club. The plan with Pedri and Trincao is to keep them at the club in order for them to fight for playing time.
