Koeman wants "respect" following reports of Ansu Fati's injury setback

The Dutch coach had nothing to say about the forward's recovery from a knee problem

Ronald Koeman spoke about Ansu Fati's recovery process with the Barcelona forward sidelined since March with a knee problem.

The state of the injury is unknown but reports this week suggested he could be out for longer than the four months initially expected.

"Out of respect for Ansu, I'm not the person to speak about his recovery, we have to show some respect," the Dutch coach said in a press conference.

"If there is news, there will be a medical statement from the club. The important thing is that there's no pressure on his comeback, he has a big future ahead of him and we have to do things the right way."

Koeman didn't seem especially happy with the news that came out this week saying there had been a relapse given his calls for "more respect."

With respect to injuries and the accumulation of minutes in his players' legs, Koeman was also asked about possible rotations against Real Betis this weekend.

"It's never good for a coach to say certain games are more important than others," he said. "The next one is always the most important. It's about day by day, game by game.

"I know we're in the semifinal (of the Copa del Rey on Wednesday) against a strong team in Sevilla, who are still in all competitions as well, but we have to take it day to day. That is the best way to prepare and win games."
