Koeman: Neto asked to leave Barça but he's an important player

The Barcelona boss says he doesn't want to lose the Brazilian goalkeeper this month

Ronald Koeman confirmed in a press conference on Saturday the SPORT story that Neto Murara has asked to leave Barcelona this month.

"His agent has asked to leave and we have told him no because he's an important player for us and we want to have every position well covered," Koeman said of Neto's situation.

Koeman was speaking ahead of the Spanish Supercopa final with Neto currently playing understudy to Marc ter Stegen, who is at an incredible level.

Due to Ter Stegen's form, there have been no minutes for Neto, who arrived from Valencia as part of an exchange deal which saw Jasper Cillessen go the other way.

At the start of the season, when Ter Stegen was injured, Neto played well, although an erros against Alaves did cost Barça points.

One team interested in Neto is Arsenal, although Barça have said they will not let him leave on loan and Koeman has now said he will not leave at all.
