Ronald Koeman, speaking in a press conference ahead of Saturday's game against Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano, directed a few words towards Pep Guardiola, who has signed a new contract with Manchester City.
"It's important that Pep can continue as City because he's important as a coach and is a reference for all managers," the Barcelona boss said.
Koeman continued: "I spoke with him yesterday to congratulate him and if he's happy, I am happy. It is good news that he continues coaching City."
Guardiola and Koeman played together at Camp Nou and were two of the most important players in Johan Cruyff's Dream Team of the early 1990s.
