The Barcelona coach believes he's been unfairly treated by referees

Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman says his red card against Granada and subsequent two-match ban was "something personal."

The Barça coach was dismissed for saying 'What a character' and is due to serve the second of his two-game touchline suspension against Atletico Madrid on Saturday.

"I think it was something personal," he said of the red card. "To say 'Vaya personaje' is not an insult. It's not a reason for a two-game ban. So yes, there's something more (to it)."

The Dutch coach was so wound up by the situation that he began his answer in English and ended up speaking in Spanish, perhaps so everyone could understand the message he wanted to send.

On Saturday's referee, Mateu Lahoz, Koeman said: "It's best I don't speak about the officials. The RFEF pick the best ones. We can't think about it too much.

"We have to focus on ourselves. I hope the referee and the VAR's decisions are fair for everyone, us and Atletico Madrid."
