Talks will take place to discuss a new contract for the Barça midfielder

Operation reactivated. Despite having other priorities, such as closing the renewals of Araujo, Gavi and Dembele, Barcelona have not forgotten about Sergi Roberto. The club plan to meet with his agent, Josep Maria Orobitg, this week for talks.

The issue has been on standby since before Christmas, but a new contract has not been ruled out. Barça a much-reduced offer during the winter compared to his current terms, but it was turned down.

Roberto's deal expires on June 30, so if there is no agreement the academy graduate will leave the club in the summer on a free transfer.

Barça vice president Rafa Yuste said recently: "We're speaking with him. He came through and the club and I hope negotiations end well."

Meanwhile, coach Xavi Hernandez has said: "The club and the player know my opinion. From there, the club and the player have to reach an agreement."

During recent months, Sergi Roberto has looked set to leave Camp Nou, with Atletico Madrid among the clubs keen on him. But he could still stay.

Following surgery earlier this season, he is nearing a return to full training next week and a return to competitive action could follow before the end of April.
