The Ghanaian forward has a loan deal until the end of the season but also big ambitions

Kevin-Prince Boateng was presented as a Barcelona player on Tuesday and says his challenge is to earn a permanent move.

He is on loan from Sassuolo until the end of the season and has a clear objective.

“I want to play well and sign on for more years here, that’s the objective,” said Boateng.

The Ghanaian forward knows he’s not going to be an instant first team pick.

“I haven’t spoken to the coach (Ernesto Valverde) but I know I have not come here to be a starter because there are incredible players in this team,” Boateng told reporters at his presentation.

“I am here because of my experience and to help out. When I heard the news I called my agent and thought it was a dream.

“It’s an incredible sensation. Yesterday morning I was sad because we had a good group (at Sassuolo) but I explained to them that coming here was an opportunity I couldn’t refuse.

“I told my agent I’d run to Barcelona, rather than going in a plane.”

Boateng used to be a midfielder but has become a false nine in recent years.

“At my age the false nine position is perfect for me,” added Boateng, 31. “The coach might think having a player like me is a positive because I can play in different roles, but I feel very good as a forward.”
