Kempes: It's stupid to say Lionel Messi is missing a World Cup
Kempes also believes both Messi and Maradona had good team-mates in the Argentine national team
Mario Alberto Kempes gave an interview to El Universe in which he spoke about Argnetine football. The former player of Valencia, among other clubs, was asked about Messi and Maradona.
“Maradona was Maradona, we are not going to discuss it, but he was and he’s not playing any more. Messi runs and delights you. If you are going to compare what Diego did then with what Messi does now, this is incomparable. They say that Messi lacks a World Cup. No! Why? Di Stefano did not win a World Cup and a lot of other players too. It’s stupid. There is a belief that Diego is god. But there is only one god.”
Kempes also believes both players had good team-mates in the Argentine national team. “Each coach chooses his best player and the best team-mates for them. Diego had very team-mates and things went well. In this national team, Messi has good team-mates. What happened is that Diego, with the hand of god, went to the final. Luck was on his side too.”
