Junior Firpo is on the verge of joining FC Barcelona after fee agreed
The young Spanish left back will join for an initial €18m and could even be included in Barça's squad for the US Tour
FC Barcelona are about to confirm their fourth signing ahead of the 2019/20 season. Real Betis and Barça have reached an agreement for Junior Firpo to complete his Camp Nou switch. There are some minor details to work out and the player will need to complete a medical but all signs point to the deal being made official very soon. Firpo will cost an initial €18m with another €7m being made up of add-ons.
Ernesto Valverde has insisted he wants his squad finalised as soon as possible and Firpo was a key part of that, as he'll offer much-needed competition at left-back to Jordi Alba. The 22-year-old is expected to join up with his new teammates on their United States tour next week.
Junior is seen as a player for the future but also the present. His enormous potential means Alba will finally have someone to compete with for a first-team spot after almost single-handedly playing in every game last year. Junior won the U21 Euros with Spain earlier on in the summer.
