Juan Carlos Unzué, who has spent various eras at Barcelona, knows better than anyone how hard it can be to start a new project there.

"You have to have patience with Koeman's Barca so that this new cycle finds stability. Beginnings have not been easy at any time," explained Unzue on Cope radio.

"People forget that this has happened before. It reminds me of my arrival with Luis Enrique, or when Pep Guardiola entered in 2008, or even in 2003 when he arrived at the club with Joan Laporta, Txiki Begiristain and Frank Rijkaard."

He thinks that Koeman has been a good choice of coach.

"It won't be an easy year but there are many reasons to be excited," said Unzue. "There's a change of dynamic in the team, Ronald has been a good choice because he knows the place and this is very important.

"Some (legends) pass into history, but new players arrive and Barcelona will always have good players."
