The Movistar analyst does not believe the Catalan is right about Barcelona being the hardest club

In Barcelona’s pre-Eintracht Frankfurt press conference, Xavi said that “this is Barca, we have the obligation to win and go through well. It’s no good for us to be in the 90th minute at 1-0 up. We have to be excellent in everything that we do. For this the hardest club in the world is Barca. We have the obligation to win playing well, that’s what history says. It’s very complicated.”

Jorge Valdano does not agree. The former Real Madrid footballer and coach is now a commentator on Movistar.

“Of course Barcelona is not the most difficult club in the world,” he said. “The most difficult is that which has the obligation always to win, and where everything is not enough, and that is Real Madrid.”

He added: “Real Madrid win you a league and it’s nothing, they win a Champions and they say ‘let’s see about next year’, that’s where we are permanently.”

However Valdano believes that it’s “a very intelligent discourse for internal consumption and the pride of Barcelonismo. It’s a good move because he knows where it’s aimed. It will generate controversy because on the other side there are many people who will think like me.”
