The former Barcelona vice-president spoke about the Argentine's situation

Former Barcelona vice-president Jordi Mestre spoke out after Lionel Messi's interview with Goal.com about his future.

Mestre told Tot Costa on Catalunya Radio that the player is angry with the president Josep Maria Bartomeu and it is impossible for the rift to heal.

"I think, in these moments, he's not happy," said Mestre. "I listened to the interview and he stays against his will. Not with the club, but with the president. There's a divorce between player and president.

"He's angry with the president and many journalists, but he will return to be the same as ever.

"If (Bartomeu) had wanted Messi to go, he would have got a lot of money for the club, but from the first moment he wanted him to stay. (Now) it's time to calm the waters, let the situation get back under control."

Mestre added: "I'm sure he'll stay as captain."
