The vice-president confirmed Vidal will sign for three years with a 300m release fee

The vice president of FC Barcelona, Jordi Mestre, accompanied Arturo Vidal at his presentation in the absence of President Josep Maria Bartomeu. Along with Éric Abidal, the vice president was next to the new Barça player during his first press conference as a Barça footballer.

Jordi Mestre wanted to emphasize that the experience of Arturo Vidal will help him, as well as the extensive track record he has achieved.

The vice president reviewed the achievements of the Chilean throughout his career as a professional footballer and based his confidence in the honours he has achieved so far: "He has a lot of experience in top teams like Juventus or Bayern Munich. An enviable track record for which I congratulate him, I hope he can expand it in this club."

Mestre said he could not state the transfer fee, which is 18m euros plus three million in variables. "I will not give the figure of the transfer fee due to the express wish of Bayern," said Mestre. He thus respected the wishes of the German club. What he did confirm is that Arturo Vidal joins Barcelona for the next three seasons and that "his release clause will be 300 million euros."
