The left back joined everybody else in highlighting how special the Argentine is

Barcelona's Jordi Alba was in a celebratory mood following his side's victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley. "It was a very complete performance, both in defence and attack." One man stood out from the crowd though: Lionel Messi.

"The whole team were great but Leo created so much. And defensively he was important too. When Leo goes on those runs there's nothing you can do. We were a solid unit and I'm happy with everyone's performance."

"As for Messi, what else is there to say? He's the best player in the world and he makes us all much better."

When asked if anybody could argue that Messi isn't the best, Alba said: "He dines at a different table to everyone else. And I'm not saying that because he plays for my team. He's just on another level and no player can be compared with him. Everyone knows this."

unfair criticism

On the criticism the team has received in recent weeks, Alba said: "It isn't up to me to say whether the criticism has been exaggerated or not but today was a great moment for those people to stop saying (negative) things."

"If we play like we did today, in every match, we'd win all the trophies available."

Spain release their latest squad list today and Alba was an absentee from the Luis Enrique's first selection. "That doesn't depend on me. I hope I'm in it but ultimately it's the coach who decides. If I'm picked, perfect. If not, well, the same."
