The left-back was sent off for two bookings in the 1-1 draw with Espanyol

FC Barcelona will be without Jordi Alba for the next league match against Atlético Madrid. The left-back was sent off after 78 minutes of Saturday's Catalan derby against Espanyol for seeing two yellow cards in just four minutes and both without committing a foul, but for brawls.

The first yellow card came in the 74th minute when he got involved with Vinicius Souza. RefereeMateu Lahoz showed both yellow cards -- and they both ended up being sent off minutes later. The second card for Alba was a little later when he spoke with Lahoz after a foul against him. It didn't seem like a harsh conversation, but Mateu showed him a second yellow card without blinking.

It's a decision that had consequences in the game, reducing Barça to 10 men, but it will also have them for the next league game, on Sunday, January 8 (9:00 p.m.) at the Metropolitano against Atletico.

Alba will be able to participate in Barça's next official match, which will be on Jan. 4 in the Copa del Rey against Intercity at the Rico Pérez in Alicante. As it is an expulsion for a double yellow card, it only affects LaLiga.
